Compared to humans baby rats grow pretty fast. However at a young age a lot has to be developed. For example,  rats are not born able to see or hear. They are born with closed eyelids and very small ears. They depend on their mothers for almost everything. She makes sure that they are feed and that they stay alive.
By about 30 days the baby rats are almost completely developed. By then they usually have full grown ears and can see perfectly. Their tails are quite long, and they sometimes have big ear. They should also be covered in fur and have nails. I think that it would be interesting  to watch baby rats grow.

Quarter One has come and gone and in science we have finished several labs or activities. I like almost all of them but I of course have my favorite. So far my favorite has been the "It's Alive!?!?" lab. This labs has tough me how to correctly use a triple beam balance. We also learned some about military time.
In the "its alive!?!?" Lab you were giving an object that when placed in water will grow. Each day we wrote down the time, the date, the objects mass(in gram) and length. Each day that the object was in the water it grew a little in mass and length. The most that the length got to was about 8 centimeters. The most amount of grams it got to was about 200 grams. After about 2 weeks of it growing we took it at of the water and measured how much it shrank. It is really interesting to see how much it grows and shrinks it is really fun.

It is really easy to find the volume of a box. It has sides that are all the same. All you do is mulitply lenght time width times hight. Simple right? But how do you  find the volume of a irregularly shaped object like a pebble? The easiest way is through the displacement method. The diplacement method is when you use water to find the volume of an object.       First you need to get a container that has marking on it that showes you how much water is in it. A container such as a graduated clynener, beaker or a flask. Then you fill up the container with about how much water you think you will need , but make sure you have enough room to put the object in. Then take note of how much water is in the container. After you finish those steps you need to place your object into the water. Then take not of how much the water level has gone up. The subtract the level that the water is at when your object is in the water minus the amout of water that you started with. For example, lets say that you started with 30 millaliters and ended with 49 millaliters the oject that you used is 19 millaliters. Every millaliter is equal to one cubic centimeter. So your object is 19 centimeters squared. Hopefully this post has helped you understand how to use the displacemenet mehtod.

Science is one of my favorite subjects. This week we have been working on mesuring with the metric system. I was a little bit difficlut at first because I had never worked with the metric system. We have always used inces and feet not cenimeters and meters. after a while of doing it a couple of times it got easier. We asked questions and learned new things. one of the things that was new this year has been us making a hypothosis. we had to think about what we where doing before we did the expirament. on of the latsest  expieramets was  making a paper and cardstock frog and seeing how far they jumped. We also had to figure out which would go farther. We had to think about that for a while wieghing the pros and cons about each frog. since the cardstock was hevier would it go farther or would the paper frog would go farther. we launched them each ten times. Using cenimeters, we caculated the average of each frogs jump. The cardstock frog had a farther avrage.
After we had completed the expirament we had to aswer some questions about the expirament. questions such as why do you think this one went farther? You really had to think about it for a mintue. Why? Well it could have been many reasons why. Reasons like the card stock one had more spring to it the wieght helped it go farther. Other questions were what are you wondering now? What I aswered is if we we canged the vaiable. Instead of what kind of paper we use what if we used card-stock and have one small and one bigger. Then what would happen? these are some questions that I have someday I hope to find out until then listen to your science teachers they know what their talking about

How can you tell if your your cells are working. What are cells? Cells are the smalles unit of life. you can see or smell your cells. How do you know they are working properly? Well cells help you carry out the activites of lif running jumping anything else that you do in daily life.
If you are living your cells are working. If not then your in trouble. Cells help you eat. your food passes through many cells. All cells help you do something. For example, one cell can help you move while another helps you move food through your body. So if you aren't alive then your cells are working

I look a lot like my mom, so I'm told and bet you look like someone in your family. I have the exact same hair and eyes as my mom. We have the same thick, brown, curly hair. We also have the same blue-green eyes. What I think is interesting is that my brother doesn't look like my mom and more like my Dad. Why don't I look like my Dad?Sure, my brother and I look a like we have the same hair color. But he looks more like my Dad and not my Mom.
The reason that we look like our parents is because of DNA. My brother and I have similar   DNA and the same genes. We both like some  of the same things. We both have some of the same traits. What I think is interesting is that we both have crooked pinkie   My dad and grandma,on my dad's side both have crooked pinkies. I think that it is really cool that we  look and have some of the same quality as each other.
But why don't we look exactly the same? Again because of DNA. We don't have the exact same amount of one trait. I might have one trait and my brother doesn't. For example my mom has blue-green eyes, I have blue-green eyes.My Dad has brown eyes. my brother has brown eyes. So because of DNA you can have the same characteristics as your family member.
